Job SummaryUnder the supervision of WCUCOM Chair of Family Medicine, the administrative assistant will perform, coordinate, and oversee the management of the office in support of the Family Medicine faculty.
This job position is distinguished from other secretarial job positions in that the nature, scope, and diversity of responsibilities included in this job position requires highly sensitive support to the WCUCOM faculty.

Assist WCUCOM and WCU in the implementation of their respective Mission Statement(s), Statement(s) of Purpose, Institutional Plan(s), and Financial Plan(s) Perform duties as specifically indicated by supervisors, faculty members, and administration Complete Adjunct Faculty Contracts for the OMS 1 and OMS 2 curriculum, gather all necessary supporting documentation, and complete all required WCUHiring paperwork Maintain accurate and current faculty records Create, duplicate, and disseminate materials as needed by faculty members Serve as a resource person for students and refer students to appropriate persons/departments as needed Assist in ordering and maintaining inventory of office supplies Monitor office equipment for needed repairs Assist with various WCUCOM job functions Attend University events when staff participation is expected Assist in other departments when needed Other duties as assigned by faculty members, supervisors, and administrative staff Required Qualifications High school diploma and two (plus) years of secretarial/administrative professional job experience Prior secretarial and administrative work experience and a thorough working knowledge of Microsoft Access, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word Excellent written and verbal communication skills Experience proofreading and editing Punctual and able to work required hours, some of which are outside of the 8 am until 5 pm workday Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills Ability to work independently, complete multiple assignments, meet deadlines, exercise good judgment, demonstrate tactfulness and discretion, and maintain confidentiality Ability to solve problems Willing to work as a team player Attend and participate in staff development and serve as a trainer of staff development sessions if/when appropriate Ability to learn and employ WCU's software, including but not limited to, student database(s) and testing Preferred Qualifications Professional work experience in a higher education setting (two- or four-year institution) Bachelor's degree in English, business, or a related field Professional work experience using financial, statistical, and/or academics-related software and databases Professional work experience editing and proofreading Physical Demands Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting Must have the ability to use standard office equipment, including but not limited to:
a computer, 10-key calculator, fax machine, telephone, copy machine, printer, scanner, and projector Must have vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone Must have the ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time Must have strength and agility to move files, paper boxes, and minor office equipment Required Application DocumentsPlease upload the following documents with your application:

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
