//www.jobs.irs.gov/about/who/business-divisions />Four (4) positions will be filled within SBSE ESTATE & GIFT /EXCISE TAX EXAM The following are the duties of this position at the full working level. Plans, carries out the successive steps, and handles problems and deviations in the work assignments in accordance with instructions, policies, previous training, or accepted practices in the 637 Registration Program. Works with multiple levels of case assignments. Such as:
Creates cases in the electronic case management system (Currently IMS) for all levels of reviews. Add new activity letters to existing cases. Assigns cases to the Excise Tax Examiners (ETEs) and Excise Field Groups. Reviews work performed by the ETEs. Works with the ETEs to resolve issues that arise during the compliance reviews. Prepares job aids to assist the ETEs in completing their work assignments. Reviews work performed by the field Revenue Agents (RA) and field Group Managers to ensure IRM requirements have been met. Uploads documents into the electronic case management system (Currently IMS) case files. Requests or inputs ERCS request for field cases. Identifies cases for sample reviews. Reviews 637 Registration Group Cases for approval, denial, and revocation. Prepares and issues 637 Registration letters Answers procedural questions from the ETEs or field RAs regarding registration requirements including interpretation of registration test outlined in the Treasury Regulations. You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcementSPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE GS-08:
You must have 1 year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes:
Experience with relevant tax laws, rules, and regulations which may include individual and business tax law, collection techniques and enforcement, actions, regulations, practices, tax forms, notices, bills, and other documents to manage sensitive case problems; Experience identifying the nature and scope of problems or issues, making appropriate adjustments to accounts, and advising taxpayers of options available for meeting tax obligations; and Experience with available on-line systems, research materials, technology, and tools to resolve taxpayer's inquiries. AND MEET TIME IN GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT:
You must meet applicable TIG requirements to be considered eligible. To meet TIG for positions above the GS-05 grade level, you must have served at least one year (52 weeks) at the next lower grade (or equivalent) in the normal line of progression for the position you are applying to. Advancement to positions up to GS-05 is permitted if the position to be filled is no more than two grades above the lowest grade held within the preceding 52 weeks. AND TIME AFTER COMPETITIVE APPOINTMENT:

00 p.m. Alternative work schedule, staggered work hours or telework may be available.
