Under the direction of the District Technical Production Manager (DTPM) the incumbent will provide technical service on Preventive Maintenance calls, shuttle necessary parts and supplies for service repair completion for repair technicians, and to perform on-the-job training tasks when working with a Break Technician on call types. The goal of this position is to be a feeder into either the Install Tech or Break/Fix Tech position.

To provide the proper customer focus, the In-Home Service Technician must:
oWork as a dedicated team member to ensure fast, flexible and expert service to every customer
oDemonstrate a sense of urgency to meet customer time commitments
oSuccessfully complete all Technician II training elements within required timeframes
oMeet key performance metrics and/or productivity goals as defined by the business
oProvide knowledgeable and courteous repair service
oContinuously look for methods to improve business performance and enhance the customer experience
oFollow the Value Added Services Process (i.e., selling extended warranties, water filters, etc.) by effectively communicating the benefits to the customer
oProvide direction to a Technical Helper, as applicable
oAbility to receive truck stock at home if the company vehicle is retained at the technician's place of residence or other designated location.
oMentor other technicians, as applicable
oMaintain truck stock inventory within the prescribed company guidelines and standards
oFollow the truck maintenance schedule and keep a clean, organized truck
oAdhere to all company policies and procedures
oPerform miscellaneous duties as assigned
Job Specific Technical Competencies The Technician's specific functions fall into four main groups: Technical:
oAccurately diagnose and repair appliances/equipment in the customer's home
oAbility to select and use basic tools or instruments to assemble, adjust, calibrate, repair or test various products
oAbility to give the customer an accurate estimate of the cost of repair, if applicable
oAbility to provide knowledgeable, courteous and professional customer service
oMust have knowledge of basic electrical principles
oAbility to work variable and flexible hours, including required overtime
oAbility to handle stressful situations and work in a fast-paced environment
oRegular and consistent attendance is an essential requirement of employment Communication:
oAbility to communicate diagnosis and needed repairs of products to the customer in a knowledgeable and courteous manner
oAbility to read, understand and apply written text of a technical nature in order to answer questions, solve problems, and complete job tasks
oAbility to communicate effectively with Sears associates, vendors, third party customers and other outside sources (i.e., routing, STAC, etc.)
oAbility to communicate effectively the benefits of the Value Added Services to the customers
oAbility to communicate effectively with diverse groups, tailoring communication for audience/situation
oMust have the ability to use a laptop
computer
for service call processes, routing functions and parts/inquiries/ordering
oAbility to read, write and speak English Service Performance:
oAbility to perform all services within manufacturer specifications and the In-Home Technician Operating Policies
oAbility to perform all procedures and work instruction according to QMS standards
oAbility to use the Sears Smart Toolbox (SST) to input, access, modify or output information
oAbility to read, understand and navigate through information presented in diagram, blueprints or other pictorial displays on the laptop computer
oAbility to demonstrate effectively appropriate time management skills
oAbility to work with minimal supervision
oAbility to maintain a professional appearance according to company dress code
oMust demonstrate a commitment to quality work in all areas
oAbility to follow specific process steps to ensure quality workmanship and prevent recalls
oAbility to perform to the company standards set for PA, PM Add-ons and other VASP sales Technicians may drive up to 150
miles per day. Experience/Education High School diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
oMust be at least 18 years of age
oCertification and /or licenses as required Applicants holding a master-level trade / occupational license(s), i.e.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
